The Lord promises He will never leave us, so when I "feel distant from God", who is it that moved? God is and will always be with me no matter what! I am the one who becomes distracted and consumed by my own thought that I lose awareness of His presence. The Lord eagerly wants to spend time with us, but He gives us freedom to chose whether we want to listen to His voice or push it into the back of our minds.
It made me think of when I was in Sunday school, when I was little and the teacher would talk about how God is everywhere and He is always with us. I would always imagine in my head that Jesus was this invisible ghost like person with hundreds of copies hovering around the room. Whenever, I had a lesson like this I would always imagine anywhere I went that day all these ghost floating around.
As I became older, I learned about the Holy Spirit and that Lord lives in me. In book of John chapter 14 the John writes that through the Holy Spirit God is with you and lives in you. How AMAZING is that???
So, I challenged myself to try and actively be listening for the Lord and be aware of His presence. I wanted to really think about how powerful it is that He is with wherever I go. By coming near to God and seeking to hear His voice, I have seen His presence in so many ways and learned so many different things these last two weeks that I would have totally missed if I had not been listening for His voice. It is so amazing to reflect on the fact that you are the child of the One who made all of creation and He wants to talk and spend time with you!
I encourage you all to continue seeking to be aware of the Lord's presence in your life and actively pursuing to set your hearts and minds on your Heavenly Father! Seek Him and you will hear His voice!
"There's nothing better than being absolutely sure that the most powerful Being in the universe adores you as His own child. This is precisely the confidence the Holy Spirit offers us."
